The NDIS price guide is also referred to as the Pricing Arrangement and Price Limits document. It outlines general pricing arrangements and price limits for services so that participants can ensure they are receiving value for money from their supports and effectively manage their funding and budget.
It basically sets out what can be claimed under the NDIS scheme and the price limits for each type of support, although it is not considered to be legislation. The guide is also helpful for providers to know the maximum rate they can charge for their service. This doesn't mean that you need to be charged the maximum rate, and you can always try to negotiate lower rates to help your funding go further.
The complete NDIS price guide can be found on the NDIA website here. The full guide, however, contains over 2500 items, so working out what is relevant to you can be overwhelming! This is why we’ve put together this short guide to understanding the structure of NDIS funding and how to navigate the price guide.
This covers your basic daily needs, as categorised into the following four categories;
The core support budget is fairly flexible, so you can use your funding from one support to cover another so long as they both are within the core support category.
This funding is more closely matched with the goals listed in your plan (if you aren’t sure about your specific goals, check out our goal-setting guide). The capacity building supports fall under the following categories;
This funding is less flexible than your core support budget, so any approved funding can not be moved from one category to another.
This can cover things such as assistive technologies or modifications to your home. Essentially this budget is more for one-off purchases, such as a necessary handrail. The funding in this budget isn’t flexible, and your funds can only be used for the specific item that they are assigned.
All invoices and reimbursement requests require line items, so that the NDIS can process the invoice correctly under the right category. Line items are made up of a brief description of the service and a unique code. With SO many line items listed in the NDIS price guide, it can be hard to know which is the most correct to use.
We can assist participants, providers and support coordinators to ensure all invoicing is accurate and claimed from the correct categories.
We’ve also put together a handy NDIS Price Guide, that outlines some of the most commonly used codes and maximum pricing limits. It also contains some helpful information on the different funding categories and what supports fall under each category.
